What happens during an Animal Energy Session?

My animal companion clients drive the energy (healing) session. They are always in control and let me know what is acceptable and what is not.  All of my sessions with animals begin with Reiki. 

Animal Reiki sessions can be performed on site or via  distance healing. Most of my animal healing sessions are done remotely. This method is ideal for those animals that live too far for an in person treatment, or may be too small, fearful or stressed for an in person session. For a distance healing session, I am provided with a photo and some information on the animal. When the session is complete, I send an e-mail summary to their human companion. Distance healing is just as effective as in person treatments.

For on-site/in person sessions, it is best that the animal is in their own environment where it is peaceful and quiet. Human companions are welcome to sit in during the session and invited to relax without interacting with the animal. The wonderful thing about Reiki is that it will also send healing to the family, the situation and environment.

Animal Reiki is always facilitated at a comfortable distance from the animal. Physical touch is not necessary and is just as effective as hands on work. I always ask the animal's permission prior to beginning the session.  The animal may choose to approach me and may give me signals that they want hands on work. Some animals will settle in and fall asleep, while others may get up and move around. They are guiding the session and I remove my expectations and trust that they are receiving what it is that they need at that moment in time. I may or may not receive messages or communication from the animal during their session. With the animal's blessings, I compassionately share any messages they wish to be heard.

I often complement the Reiki session with other healing modalities and or vibrational remedies.  Matrix Energetics is incorporated ALWAYS. Every session is different and I use my intuition and the animals guidance on what they are comfortable receiving. Most of my sessions involve the use of crystals to help amplify and complement the healing energy.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic healing modality developed by Dr. Mikao Usui.  There are many schools with different lineages; but they all serve the same purpose. To provide healing to the whole being which ultimately  addresses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.  Reiki can be described as "spiritual energy" or "universal life energy".

I do not not direct Reiki, it goes to where it needs to go. It is not ME that is performing the healing. I am merely a conduit or facilitator of the energy.  Sometimes what 'we' think needs healing is not necessarily what the healing should be. Reiki is far more intelligent than we are and will work at the appropriate level for the animal's highest and best good.  And, most importantly, Reiki can do no harm!

How long is a session and how many sessions will my animal companion need?

Sessions range from 30 minutes to an hour. In special cases, they can run longer.  The animal is in charge and the length of the session depends on her.

It may take several individual treatments before a shift is noticeable.  In other cases, one session is all the animal requires.   

What can I expect after a session?

Every animal and session is different. Sometimes the animal will remain asleep and other times, they will jump up with renewed energy and want to play. It is important to be sure she has plenty of fresh water since the treatment may make her thirsty. Healing results may or may not be apparent immediately and may take several hours or days. I've also seen healing reactions occur where the illness may get worse temporarily and/or a different issue presents itself. In every case, I trust that Reiki is healing what needs to be healed in the animal at that moment in time.

Do you conduct sessions with animals other than cats and dogs, like my horse and other farm animals?

Absolutely! I offer healing sessions for small and large domestic, farm and wild animals. I've worked with all shapes and sizes, including butterflies, spiders, pigs, guinea pigs, birds, etc.  Horses are amazing beings and tend to be even more energetically sensitive than other animals. One of my very first Animal Reiki experiences was with a beautiful and loving pig named Harley. He taught me very quickly how important it was to respect the animal's wishes. 

What can you do for a dying animal?

This is a very difficult time for the animal and the entire family. A Reiki session given to an animal that is ready to transition can be very powerful. It will not only bring peace to the entire family who is also suffering, but will bring about emotional and spiritual healing for the animal. Reiki will send healing to the pain & fear and help facilitate acceptance of the process. It is important to remember that healing and curing can be very different. Reiki always works for the highest and best good and provides exactly what is needed.
